Abbey Produce Ltd was started in a small office at the home of the Founder in 1980. The company is operated by three people who between them have over 100 years of experience in the industry. Duncan Negus on sales since 1980, Michael Darrington Fieldsman since 1988 and Jenny Adams Girl Friday, Sales, Fieldslady and Accounts since 1997.
The company has undergone many changes over the 37 years, storing potatoes for multiple outlets for prepacking, processing, size grading through a pack house and wholesaling through markets. But over the past decade the company has grown to become one of the largest suppliers to wholesalers who serve fish and chip shops throughout the country and Ireland.
To achieve the perfect chip is down to many factors more especially the growing season and temperature. The staff at Abbey monitor samples for dry matter, bag count and the ultimate fry. Varieties make a vast amount of difference at certain times of the year, but whilst we are always looking for a new perfect potato our main choices are Agria, Sagitta, Markies, Divaa and of course the old favourite Maris Piper.
The company is always looking for new grower contacts. We can be contacted on 01733 200900 or email firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com
